Hide Layers Payne by default

Explorer ,
Jun 22, 2023 Jun 22, 2023

Im using Acrobat Pro Continuous Release | Version 2023.003.20215.

Most of the PDF's I work with on a daily basis have layers, which is not something that I need or use.  Every time I open a PDF, the layer payne on the right side is expanded.  Every. Single. Time.  In my opinion, it takes up precious real estate on the screen, which almost defeats the purpose of the recent updates that made everything else minimalistic.  Is there any way I can set Acrobat to never expand on launch? I have not found a way to do this.

No, as this is a setting of the file. Go to File - Properties - Initial View and select "Page Only" under "Navigation tab". It's possible the "Layers Panel and Page" option is selected by the application that creates the file. If that's the case you should check the settings of that application to change it at the source.

I had the same issue after opening a PDF where I needed to turn off some layers. After that, every single PDF opened the layers panel. It definitely was not a setting in the file.

I solved my issue by right clicking on the Layers icon and then clicking on "Reset Panes".

How can I get rid of Layers Panel? Each time I open a PDF file the layer panal opens in the right side and it is REALLY REALLY annoying !!!

I looked a lot at Menu>Preferences to disable this thing.

It's a setting of the file, not the application. Do you have Acrobat or Reader?

If the latter, you can't change it. In the former, go to File (or Menu, if you're on the new UI) - Properties - Initial View and change "Navigation Tab" to "Page Only". Then click OK and save the file:

I have Acrobat primium.

I dont have file and properties. It is the newest version with Menu and lPrefarences.

Each time I open a file then there is either Layers or comments or Bookmarks in the right side which is really annoying.

Below you can see some pictures:

As I wrote, in the new UI it's under Menu.

I can't believe aftrer all this time, there's still no setting to globaly turn off this BS.  Lately, every time I open Acrobat, I'm getting some sort of disctracting pop ups.  Try AI this, Ask AI assistant that, I have turned off.  I've unchecked the generative AI features in preferences, and I still seem to get pop ups every now and then.  Also, sometimes, the tools menu decides to be expanded, while sometimes it doesn't.  Between that, AI garbage, and layers, it is very distracting, and the viewable area of my document is condensed ridiculously, even on a nice big monitor.  And then I have at least 3 clicks to get rid of all of this.
