Highlight comment pop-ups not being disabled

Every time I highlight text and then at a later time pass over that highlight it stops the cursor so that a comment box can pop-up, even empty. I notice that this issue seems to be ongoing for at least three years with Acrobat. I have the latest version of DC, so despite the so-called 'bug fix, back in 2019, and despite nothing in the Viewing Comments section of the Commenting prefs being selected or checked, these boxes keep on appearing and ruining my workflow.

Hi David, I’m not from Adobe and my answer probably won’t help you either.
I tried to reproduce your error in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. For me the popup appears immediately. Maybe it’s also a matter of your system’s performance?

Anyway, you could set the preferences to open the popup only when you click on the marker. Or you could use the comments sidebar on the right. Sorry for not being able to help you further. Greetings from another user!

Hi David,

Thank you for reaching out and sorry for the trouble.

As you have mentioned a comment box pop-ups everytime, would you mind sharing a screenshot with us.

Please also share the screenshot of the preferences window for comment.

Let us know then Acrobat and OS version you are usng on the machine.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

It has been five days with no reply. I am paying almost $300/yr for this software. And it is necessary on a daily basis. Why is customer service taking so long?

Still no reply from Adobe. The crew at https://pdfexpert.com/ almost immediately reply to any issues. Yet Adobe is a huge corporation by comparison.

The answer is: if the 'copy selected text into Highlight... comment pop-ups' is selected in the commenting prefs, then the annoying pop-up will show, along wioth the text, even though the text is also shown in the sidebar (where it should be). PDFExpert activate such a ridiculous and annoying pop-up, but still shows highlighted text in the sidebar.

CORRECTION: The answer is: if the 'copy selected text into Highlight... comment pop-ups' is selected in the commenting prefs, then the annoying pop-up will show, along wioth the text, even though the text is also shown in the sidebar (where it should be). PDFExpert does NOT* activate such a ridiculous and annoying pop-up (like Acrobat), but still shows highlighted text in the sidebar. And as I said before, their customer service is great.

Still waiting for a reply. Wondering if Adobe is still an American company?
