Highlight Existing Fields stopped working

I've been using Adobe Acrobat XI for years without any problems. Just yesterday the "Highlight Existing Fields" button stopped working. Normally the highlighted fields show up in blue but now nothing changes. This is a form I've used many times and it definitely has fields and there are no security issues with it.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that. As described, Highlight Existing Fields stopped working.

Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs, please try with a different PDF file and check.

Also make sure you have the application updated to its last version 11.0.23, go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer. You may also downnload the patch manually from the link https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotes/index.html and see if that helps.

Note: Adobe Acrobat XI is an old and EOL application. For more information please check the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/end-of-support-acrobat-xi-reader-xi.html

Regards

Amal

Hi Amal and thank you for your quick response.

I do have the latest version of the application. This behavior just started happening and it's with all PDF's.

Go to Edit - Preferences - Forms and make sure that "Show hover color for fields" is ticked, before and after you open the file. Also make sure that the highlight color is the desired shade of blue. A script embedded in the file can disable this option entirely, or even change the highlight color, without you being aware of it.

I just confirmed the hover color for fields box is ticked and the color is correct. I just tried changing it to a different color to see if that worked but it doesn't change anything.

What seems to be happening is that there is no color showing. When the Highlight Existing Fields option is turned on, the color seems to be clear and I'm unable to get a different color to show.
