Highlighting

New Here ,

Why do I lose the ability to highlight text in a document. Why I open it the first few times it works, then for no reason it won't lwt me highlight. I thought this was a basic function in the free reader. Do I need to buy a subscription now?

No. You should be able to do it in the free Reader.
So what exactly happens when you try to highlight the text and it fails?

Now when I tru to highlight a text by dragging the cursor over it, the whole page turns the color of the highlight until I stop. It seems that now adobe thinks its an image, not a pdf. This happens with every document. I can do so many highlights and then I can't.

Sounds like it is composed out of images only... Can you share the file?

The thing is I can open a document and I am able to highlight and underline with no problem. Then the document seems to change properties and I can no longer do it. Really frustrating.

That is very strange and does not usually happen, definitely not by itself... Did you maybe upload the file somewhere, or opened it in another application?

It is strange. And now it happens with every pdf. I can underline and highlight so many times then it chjanges on its own. Don't know what to do about it. Did you see the file I attached yesterday?

Yes. It has no real text, only images... Something else has to be at play here, as this kind of transformation doesn't happen on its own.

When I save the file I get this message, "exporting pdf". Could that be it?

If I go to the file menu and select save it does the same thing, and shows Command-S as the shortcut like it always has.

This is not Adobe Acrobat. You're using something called "PDF Reader". Similar name, but not the same thing...
