Hey, I am looking to digitize some of my old coffee table books. Before I get the necessary gadgets, I am curious how big the file will be for a 300-400 page book.It is feasible to store the books on a flash drive? Main question is how big the Adobe pdf file be.
Thanks

Impossible to say. It depends on many factors, mostly the quality (and therefore size) of your scans.
Scan some pages (say 10) and create a PDF file from them. Multiple that by 30-40 to get a very rough estimate of the size of the full file. My guess is it would be around 2-3MB per image (again, depending on the quality), so probably around 1GB in total. If that's the case then any normal flash drive should be able to handle it.
