the document I want downloads and then triggers a very updated version of Adobe Acrobat, trying to also push subscribing. When I click on create a PDF Adobe just gives more options and goes to free trial. I called support for the site which is a HOSPITAL portal and was told this is how the location I go to set up their portal to function. I just want a copy of my own medical information. It used to work before. This is rather hard to believe. It doesns't make sends.
When I click right on the document, nothing comes up that says "save as" which usually is the case.

you should be able to download a pdf. how to do that may require a right click or something else.

hi and thanks. As I said in my initial post, i know how to make a pdf but when i did right click nothing happened. the "save as" option doesn't come up. I do know how to create a pdf, but any tool i try to utilize directs me back to the Adobe website and subscription

i attached a capture (didn't mean to send twice) of what I see all around the part that I want to make a pdf of. Maybe seeing this will help you help me. None of the options that refer to PDF do what i want. thanks

If you open the file in Acrobat it means it's already saved on your computer. Click the button at the top-left corner, select Properties and look under the Description tab for Location. You can even click the path next to it and it will open the folder and highlight the file for you.

thank you! but i had to go into downloads to find it. i didn't see anything you described. years ago i had to change my settings in chrome to download documents to the browser bc acrobat wasn't opening them. the only reason this opened and downloaded with acrobat is bc the portal has it set up this way. i don't go through this with any other documents ever that people send to me. But i just looked into my programs and there is now Adobe Acrobat there with the date of 5/16/24. So how did that get installed? (not that i mind) and what setting do i change in chrome if i want to use Acrobat to "always download". Chrome has changed a lot in the menu recently and it's different than what i'm used to. i'm totally puzzled.

if you have adobe reader, it's free. if you have adobe acrobat, it's not free.
open what was newly installed > click help > about and see which you have.

no, reader is a different app from acrobat.
you should contact adobe support unless you want to pay for an acrobat subscription.
there are 2 ways to contact adobe support; chat and twitter (now x):
chat:
if you have or want to purchase a subscription, use a browser that allows popups and cookies
and click here, https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen
in the chat field (lower right), type AGENT
be patient, it can take quite a while to reach a human.
twitter/x:
tweet @AdobeCare
p.s. if you're contacted by anyone (via email or private message), it's much more likely to be a scammer than an adobe representative.

it is definitly adobe acrobag. how can they charge me? I didn't order it. I called general support for Medstar portal and the guy asked me which location I go to and then said "that is how that particular location chose to set up their downloading." that doesn't sound right or plausible. Medstar Health is a vast corporate network of hospitals and doctors.
even if i uninstall it, the next time i go to download something, i imagine it wll happen again.

i just scanned the duolingo document and it came up clean. but in the olden days, didn't we all download reader and have it on our computers. I did. or it came with old Windows versions right? believe me, i don't pay for ANY subscriptions i don't order or want. So how do you think this got put on and free but as i said i will check with credit card.
WHere are the settings in chrome to choose
download to browser? I can't find it and that is how i always had it set up because i no long had Reader!

reader was and is a very common download/install.
it's acrobat that's the issue.
and it's not the pdf, you need to scan. it's the acrobat exe.
