I've searched for this many times, and most results seem to tell me how to ignore an embedded scale, or how to temporarily change it. Neither is what I want.
But I believe it's possible to permanently embed a scale in a page. The distance tool states 'Ebedded Scale Ratio', which is invariably blank.
So how exactly do I embed it?

Thanks Meenakshi.
But although there's a lot of useful info there, I don't see how to embed a scale?
It's usually PDF's created by others, which I need to open numerous times, and they don't have an embedded scale. In fact I don't think I've ever come accross one! So I'd like to embed the scale, to avoid having to set it every time I open a drawing.
