How can I reset the work area to the previous version?

When I opened Acrobat recently, the work area was completely different from the previous version. It's a big mess and I can't find anything.

How can I set the work area back to the way it was before the recent upgrade?

You must revert to the Classic UI: https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/acrobat-2023-how-to-revert-to-classic-gui-user-interface/td-p/14052807
Consider the "new Acrobat" as a beta version, many features are still missing or half-implemented.

Many thanks, JR

I HATE the new interface, and am glad that there's a way to revert to the classic UI.
