I have a book in pdf which i plan to publish on amazon kdp. Its a specific size in pdf. I need to add one word to a page but when i do, it resizes the entire pdf. How do i get it to not resize and keep all formating, just add one word?

It is ALWAYS best to go back to the original application that created the document than to make changes in the PDF.
If this is not possible, you can try to save it as "Reduced size PDF," but if you do and you have images in the document, they might show signs of jpg degradation.

You can always use Photoshop and/or Illustrator for free for 7 days (trial), but if the document is now a PDF, any change you make in that PDF with Photoshop will significantly expand the size of the document. (If you open the Photoshop-PDF in Acrobat and Save it as Reduced size, it will bring it back to "normal" size, but not likely the size of the original. If you open the PDF in Illustrator there should be no change in the final document.

Oh, if you did not make the document, can you contact the person who did and have them make the change?
