Question

How do I stop bookmarks pane from opening with every pdf that is opened?

Having to manually close the bookmarks pane to the right side of the screen is such a waste of time and extremely annoying. Does anyone have a soltuion to stop this?

Everything I have found online and on this forum does offer a permanant solution, only for one document at a time, which is the same if not more processes than closing the bookmarks pane.

There is no permanent solution, as this is a setting that is defined in each file's Initial View settings.

You can run an Action on a set of files to change that setting in them, but that's about it.

Thank you for the reply. It seems crazy this isnt an easy setting change, it wastes so much screen space, and absoulte nightmare when I have tens of detailed drawings to look at. Could you please explain what this Action is and how to run it?

Go to Tools - Action Wizard and create a new Action. Add to it the "Set Open Options" command (under "Document Processing"), and a Save command (under "Save & Export"). Edit the former by clicking the Specify Settings button on the right-hand side of the window and select Initial View as Page Only:

Leave everything else as is.

Also make sure to untick the "Prompt User" check-box:

Now run this Action on your files, and you're done!
