How to apply DRM in PDF?

Hi,

One of my client were asked to apply the DRM in their supplied PDF. Please let me know how to apply the DRM in PDF.

Restrictions required:

1. PDF not able to share with other users.

2. No Copying.

3. No Editing.

4. No Extracting.

5. No printing.

Numbers 2-5 are controled in the PDF's File / Properties / Security settings.

Sample settings are below. Adjust to fit your needs.

There is no free or built-in DRM in Acrobat. Your client would need to purchase a DRM solution, LockLizard for example. Adobe also sells a highend enterprise level DRM solution. But there are a few out there, just google "PDF DRM"

Is the Adobe product provides DRM solutions? How much will the cost details? Any idae...

Many PDF viewers ignore password restrictions, so if the file is readable you can't enforce anything. Certificate based security would at least prevent viewing by those who do not own the certificate, so that even if the file were shared, it couldn't be opened by a third party.

 

Items 4 and 5 are tough, even in a DRM solution. You would need to prevent screen shots, or even pictures of the screen from someone's iPhone. Usually, if that level of security is needed, you need to restrict access to particular computers in locked rooms, with other physical security.
