How to keep fonts from Word source document?

New Here ,
Jul 27, 2019 Jul 27, 2019

DC changes the fonts from the Word source file to ARIAL when converting to a PDF.

I know, in Preferences I can set a default font and font size for PDF conversions.

And I know, I can change the fonts by editing the final PDF - but obviously, that's comically manual for a cloud-based product.

Neither of these options are effective.

Basically, I want DC to pick up the font(s) and size(s) from the source document and apply them to the PDF.

In other (third party) PDF creators, this is easily doable, so the Adobe product must be able to do it, too?

I just chatted with DC customer support and they did not know how to solve this and suggested I pose the question to the community. I find it hard to believe that I am the first customer to encounter this issue.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Please tell us exactly how you convert the Word document to PDF. And the product/subscription you are using.

So far as I know, this is not effective for Word documents.

>And I know, I can change the fonts by editing the final PDF

This should never be necessary and is rarely successful

Acrobat's conversions are not cloud-based. Or are you using PDF Pack?

Hi there, thanks for the reply. Here is what I am doing:

Using my Document Cloud Pro account:

- Go to TOOLS tab

- Select CREATE PDF

- SELECT FILE [Word document]

- CREATE

- [file is uploading]

- PDF view shows on new tab

- Source fonts have all been changed to ARIAL

Using the "Edit PDF" feature, I can manually change the font for each text box. Meaning, DC recognizes the original font.

Looks like that you use the Adobe online service.

This Tools tab - is it in your web browser, or the Acrobat Pro app, or Acrobat Reader app? Are you on Mac or Windows?

I am using the Adobe Acrobat Pro DC desktop app (v 2019.012.20034) for Mac, and Word for Mac (v 16.27 / Office 365 subscription).
