How to REALLY get rid of the "AI Assistant" in Adobe Reader for Windows?

New Here ,
Apr 28, 2025 Apr 28, 2025

Hello,

Like many users, I am also pissed off with the "AI Assistant" in Adobe Reader for Windows. I followed the suggestions in this discussion, to no avail. Both check boxes are unchecked, under "Generative AI" in the Preferences of Adobe Reader, and even after restarting the application, I'm still bothered by the "AI Assistant" orange-purple icon in the upper-right corner. Also, if I select some text in a PDF document, I get the "Ask AI assistant" menu. I'm NOT interested in the AI hype. I'm NOT interested in the cloud hype. I DON'T like the new version of Adobe Reader. I just want to be able to remove all the junk the brilliant Adobe executives found good to add and to shove down our throat for some obscure reason. It pisses me off so much... I have work to do... I don't like wasting my time going through obscure menus just to get rid of annoying options, popup menus asking me all the time for services I don't need. I don't want to have to spend my time searching the web how to fix Adobe Reader... Will this application finally be fixed?! The AI Assistant junk is disabled in the Preferences, yet, after restarting the application, it's still present in several locations of the interface... So much frustration with this application, that used to be minimalist, not get in the way, and just work...😵💫🤬😠

Hi @calande,

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the AI Assistant in Adobe Reader.

We understand that not all users may wish to engage with newly introduced features, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Currently, while Adobe Reader allows you to hide the AI Assistant panel through the application preferences, there is no supported method to fully remove or uninstall the AI Assistant feature from the installed product.

To adjust visibility:

  • Navigate to Edit > Preferences > AI Assistant and modify the settings available there.

We also encourage you to submit feedback directly to our product teams through the official Adobe Feature Request and Bug Report Form here: https://adobe.ly/3YmGtho.

Your input is valuable and helps inform future product improvements.

We truly appreciate your engagement, and thank you for helping us improve Adobe Reader.

~Tariq

Thank you. I accessed the Adobe Feature Request and Bug Report Form page you shared above, however, I can't proceed, there's no button or link to go past the Terms & Conditions page. I tried with Chrome, Firefox and Edge. My ad blocking software is disabled.
