Within Adobe Pro, Adobe Reader or other pdfDocs programs. Common task is removing a footer or header, but we do not want to remove both. Is there a way to simply remove footer, keeping the header? Thank you.
Tried this in several different pdf programs, they all remove all headers and footers, not a choice to remove header/footer without affecting all of them. It's not a version issue, but by design apparently. We need to be able to do this.

Instead of clicking "Remove", just click "Update", then delete the text from the footer field.

Tried that. This specific project had to do with 'page numbering' field in footer to remove. When I go into Update, the 'page numbering field' does not appear to remove it. Only 'text' shows up in the fields to remove. You can remove separate sections of header/footer but only if it's 'text'. For another issue, page numbering field does not show so you can remove that (even though you used page numbering field to insert it!).

Are you certain that the page number is part of the PDF footer? Perhaps it is in the source document, and that's why it is not being removed by the header/footer updating.
A screenshot might be helpful in troubleshooting.

Postive, I even added page numbering myself in the footer, to verify I'm applying page numbering correctly and sure enough when you go to "update" it doesn't show. Only "text" info shows in the header/footer fields.

I also did these steps in another file, and the update steps works. although, I can either see the header only to remove or the footer page numbering field only, when I go to update on the new file it doesn't show both. All set here for now. Thank you!

Did you ever find a way to change ONLY the footer? I'm having a similar issue. When I attempt to "Update" my Footer, Adobe completely deletes my header. Unfortunately, my Header is quite detailed and complex to recreate. This seems dumb that it's "all or nothing" on the Header/Footer update. Thank you for any info

I have a paid version. I've scanned the internet and YouTube and everything shows deleting the Header and Footer simultaneously so I don't think it can be done. I started over with a past version of my file that didn't include the Footer, so I was lucky that I had that.

Same. I always leave adding page numbers until bitter end because never found a way to adjust once done ie if have to remove or add additional pages. The footer is uneditable. Someone suggested Update, but in doing so I get a message 'Adobe Acrobat cannot update the header or footer information in this document'. This is MY document, created from my Word document, it's not had additional locking added etc.
The only work around I have ever found is, with Edit toolbar selected, is to select and delete each and every page number from beginning to end, save, and then startover again by adding a new footer for pagenumbers.
A function to Edit a previous created field would be huge help.
