Question

How to remove the x of every space

There is a "x" mark in every space when I open my pdf file in adobe reader and acrobat DC. Can anybody tell me how to get rid of the "x" and why it looks like that? Thank you.

I try an alternative way, which is export pdf into Word, and then save the Word file as pdf. And it works. But I would still like to know if there is a way to fix the issue in Acrobat.

The “X in the box” is actually what is call a notdef character. It would be very helpful if you could post the file in question such that we could examine it to give a definitive analysis, but the notdef character is used when the PDF content references a character in a font that is “not defined.” In this case, it would appear the “space” character itself is not defined in the font being used and Acrobat substitutes the notdef character.

Again, post the file and we can better advise as to exactly what the problem is.

Hi Qiany,

Sorry for the delayed response.

It seems there is an issue with the pdf file as the following thread discusses: Fix garbaged PDFs

You may try embedding the fonts using the steps given in this link and check if that helps: How do i enbed fonts in acrobat dc pro?

Let us know if you need any help.
