All documents are set up to open at the last place viewed but there is one document that will always open on the 1st page. I assume something is wrong with this 1 document. I did try "Help / Repair Acrobat installation" at 1st because I thought it was a problem across the board but now know it is this one particular pdf (book). Is there any way of fixing this? I assume something is wrong with this pdf or it is set this way.

Hi there
Thankyou for sharing the PDF file and explaining the issue in detail. I have tried to reproduce the issue on my end and its working fine.
Please go to Edit (Win), Adobe Acrobat (Mac) > Preferences > General > select 'Open PDFs from last session on Acrobat launch' > Click OK and reboot the application.
Hope it will help
Regards
Amal

Hi there
Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that.
Would you mind elaborating a bit more about the steps you are doing to open the document? A small video recording of the same would be very helpful.
Also, as mentioned its an issue with a specific file, would you mind sharing the file with us so that we can check it at our end. https://helpx.adobe.com/document-cloud/help/sharing-pdfs.html
Also make sure you have the recent version 21.11.20039 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Thank you so much Amal. it's well appreciated. As to steps taken, what steps? The steps are double-click on a file and have it open: like you do with any other type of file 🙂 The only thing is that it always opens in the 1st page as opposed to opening where I last was. And the Options are set to do so. As I said, this only happens to this one file and not other PDFs. As to getting s copy of the file. Sure thing see attached.

Well that version is very old and obsolete, but this might work anyway. Open the file. Make a small edit, such as adding a bookmark (any edit). Save the file using Save As, not just Save. It might now open as you intended. This is a bug in the created PDF, and editing fixes it.
