How to resize a pdf file?

I have Adobe Acrobat 7.1.0 Standard. I regularly send pdf files via e-mail and when the file is too large I can’t send it.

1 - Can I resize a pdf file to a smaller size?
2 - If so, How do I do that?

Not 100% sure about 7, but in 8 it's Advanced > Print production > PDF Optimizer or Document > Reduce File Size.  One of those should work, as long as it is possible to reduce the size of your document, some documents will be already as small as they can go..

I have had mixed results with both the PDF Optimizer and Reduce File Size. However, in AA7, those are the 2 ways to do it directly. The third way that may be worth trying is to simply print to a new PDF. If you have bookmarks they will be lost and you have to take care in your choice of job settings, but it might help. Also, if the PDF has a lot of tags, using a process to delete the tags will help. They are useful, but really bloat the PDF.

When a file is too large to send by email there are many sites that will host the file for you. You can then send a link to the file. Google will host files, there is also a site called acrobat.com . There are other sites that specialize in the temporary hosting of files and will erase the file after a limited amount of time.

You can also break the file into sections by extracting the pages say 50 or 100 at a time and then just send the individual sections.
