You can also add the buttons to the tool bar on top (right-click on tool bar):

The View menu has the keyboard short cuts. My keyboard shortcuts are working fine.

You have to navigate in order for the shortcuts to work. Make sure you don't have another program/utility interfering with the shortcuts.
