How to right-align the text in a dropdown list?

Contributor ,
Jul 11, 2023 Jul 11, 2023

Hi!

I need to right-align the text in the dropdown list but I'd like to set it as a field-level function if that makes sense (so that they don't all align right, just the ones I want to align right). I can't find the option to do so in the properties box.

I'd also like to know how to center-align the date when using a "date field".

Is that possible?

Thank you so much!!

Diane

Got it!

You don't need to use Acrobat in Hebrew or in Arabic (RTL languages), just use the appropriate option in the Preferences.

1. To do that you would have to reverse the field's direction. Go to its Properties and under Options set Direction to "Right to Left". This will align the text to the right, and move the arrow to the left.

2. Just set the field's Alignment setting to Center, again under Properties - Options. The selected Format does not matter.

Well, hello again! 🙂

Thank you!

Unfortunately, that option doesn't exist on mine. When I go to "options" I have the following choices:

Sort items

Allow user to enter custom text

Check spelling

Commit selected value immediately

I'm using Standard, not Pro, does that make a difference?

Again, thank you!!

Diane

Sorry, my bad, it's under Appearance, not Options. It should appear in the Standard version of Acrobat, too.

Text Color

I checked the other tabs and it's not there either...

Very strange... Maybe it's not in Standard, then.

I'm not seeing it on my Acrobat Pro. What's the JavaScipt Property name?

Me? Are you asking *me* what the JavaScript Property name? If so, ummmm... ... lol

Could you please tell me how to figure that out? I'll get the info and bring it back here. 🙂

Thank you so much, and also thank you for checking your Pro to see if it's there!!

Nope, I was asking try67.  I don't see that option on my Acrobat Pro, so wondering what this is about.

It's not accessible via JS, unfortunately.

I'm surprised you don't see it, though. Maybe Adobe removed it? It's very useful for RTL forms.

try67 what language do you use Acrobat in?
I've never seen this option in either English or French.

English... I do also have Hebrew installed on the machine, but I doubt it's because of that.

That's a completely new one to me. Never seen it before. It has to be related to Hebrew somehow. Probably a registry entry. What's the reading direction of hebrew?

Looks like it's read right to left... I wonder if I installed Hebrew on my computer if it would add that option?

Hebrew is RTL, yes. I kind of doubt this is caused by a registry setting, but who knows! Worth a try, I guess.

Hmmm, I might give up on the want and instead just go to plain old text fields. Bummer but I don't really know anything about installing other languages unfortunately. I've been having so many various technical problems over the past several days between Adobe and Excel, I fear introducing even more problems, lol.

Is there a place to submit wishes to Adobe? I could enter it there and hope. 🙂

Thank you!!

Diane

I kinda doubt that Hebrew is the issue (because why), but a registry setting could be shared by several versions, so that makes sense to me.

It may be 32bit and 64bit versions difference, I had it two days ago on 32bit, had to reinstall acrobat, and now I got 64bit version, and it's not there.
