how to tag unusual words

Explorer ,
Sep 17, 2018 Sep 17, 2018

HI.  I create user guide for technical training and often wondered how to properly tag words that contain, say, a wildcard in it. For example, a user guide that include info on Boolean searching would show a word such as this: negligen! and explain that when searched would find the words negligence, negligent etc.  So... how do I tag the word negligen!.  Another example would be: wom*n.  Help.

Thanks, Marion

One solution would be to nest an unusual word in a <Span> tag with Actual Text providing exactly the way you want it to be read.

And another option is to put Expansion text on the unusual word, writing out exactly how you want it pronounced. This technique is also used for acronyms.
