Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer locally and then try again.

What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 22.3.20281 (Mac) installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-defau...

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.

I have the same problem as Eyab. I would like to share with you my frustration and that of the community of Mac users (is it just a Mac problem ?).

 

It is unbelievable to me that Adobe has not been able to solve this problem yet. How many months in, already? Maybe you should just paste on the front page of Adobe.com "WARNING THIS PROGRAM IS UNSTABLE AND UNUSABLE ON APPLE COMPUTERS".

 

Typing that makes me feel so much better already.

 

Anyway, I am running the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader on a macbook air M2, running Ventura. The app hangs very consistently when opening pdf files stored on my local hard disk. Problem started about 6 weeks ago, after an Adobe update. I have looked but found none of the files linked to above for resetting preference settings. I have a paid-for pdf to word converter (which by the way no longer works in Acrobat app locally. Apparently, I can only use it with the online Adobe app, which is in itself a stupid, abusive step backward, Adobe).

 

Do you have a solution to this problem (I know, of course you don't...) Just hoping, sadly.

Feel free to escalate this mail to a person with responsibility so that I can share more of my frustration with them, in your place.
