I want my old Adobe Acrobat XI version back !

Community Beginner ,

I have lost access to my original version of Adobe Acrobat XI and I am not able to recover it. I have paid for that license and I consider that I should be able to continue using it.

When I try to reinstall my older version Acrobat XI, I keep getting “Error 1606. Could not access network location" and the program was trying to get it from my "OneDrive/Pictures folder."  I have never placed the original Acrobat XI installation in that folder and I do not why it is now asking for a location in that folder.  I have found this error 1606 on the web and all the solutions suggested did not work. I have even uninstalled Microsoft Office and nothing.  One of my IT technicians has tried to fix this problem by using one of the tools suggested by Adobe to clean up my PC of all Adobe Acrobat entries, and I am still not able to re-install my Acrobat XI version.

Thus, I decided to install the new version from my Adobe account, which is with all respect a completely different "animal" and I cannot find the way to reinstall my original toolbar in the way it was before. Now I have menu bars at all borders, left, right, top, and with options I really do not need.  It appears someone in Adobe decided to completely change the configuration and tools of Acrobat and trying to force us to use these changes, which are not helpful at all; I do not have the time to learn again how to use this new program, which I have used for more than 30 years now. I am 74 years old and it is very difficult for me to get adapted to the new generation of IT programmers who are trying to create new versions because they consider themselves as little Gods and they think we all have to abide by their way of thinking and force us to use their new versions without any consideration for their users.

This is very frustrating. I have paid for my Adobe XI license and I have the right to continue using it, I do not want a new program with a completely new configuration. The older version was perfect for me and I do not need new versions. This problem is wasting my time and I have a lot of work to do.

Is there any way someone can help me to reinstall my Adobe XI version and get rid of the Error 1606.

I am alredy fed-up with Adobe and I will change to "Wondershare PDF Element" if necessary.

Thank you,

Paco

Hi @Francisco293982123on2

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that.

If you have the Acrobat XI installer disk, you may try reinstalling the application using it.

Adobe Acrobat XI is an old and EOL application and it is not supported on the latest MAC and Win OS.  For more information, please go through the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/end-of-support-acrobat-xi-reader-xi.html

Also, you may go through the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/new-acrobat-experience.html for more information about the New UI of Adobe Acrobat and see if that helps.

You may also revert to the old UI as described here, To disable the new experience,

  • Windows: Click the hamburger menu at the upper left corner and choose Disable new Acrobat.
  • macOS: Go to View > Disable new Acrobat.

The new experience is like being thrown into the sewer.

Hi @Gabe318416296djm ,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback about the new Acrobat experience. I understand that you're not finding it as intuitive as the previous version, and I want to assure you that we're taking your feedback seriously.

We're always working to improve our products, and your feedback is an important part of that process. I will be forwarding your comments to the design team, and they'll be taking them into account as they continue to develop the new Acrobat experience.

In the meantime, I'd like to offer you some help getting the most out of the new interface. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • The new interface is designed to be clutter-free, so you can quickly focus on your document.
  • The menu bar, toolbar, and panels have been streamlined, and the tools are organized more logically.
  • You can customize the interface to your preferences.

For more information please go through the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/new-acrobat-experience.html

I hope this helps! If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Amal

I totally agree that the new adobe look is totally garbage, and hard to use.  I want the old version back as well.  Who ever did this should be fired.
