I want to do this project....do you think Acrobat is a good choice for it?

I"ll be making a 48" wide by 36" high poster. I want somewhere just to assemble the pieces, not to create them. I will have tables and charts from Excel, flow charts (that can be exported as PDF files), Text from MS word. I want somewhere i can paste all those items, move them around, add banners and borders around elements (like a border around a chart or table). Would Acrobat be a good tool for "assembling it all together into the poster"?  Thanks if you can shed light on this question!

Absolutely not. Use InDesign for that. When done, convert the file to a PDF using Acrobat (or even InDesign's internal functions). Acrobat is NOT an editing tool and should not be used as such.
