Hello. I am getting the error message 'Invalid Type or Value in A Layer Object' when I open an Acrobat file I have created and I would like this message to be deleted/removed/not pop up. I am perfectly able to print and view the document and it does not seem to be corrupt. But the document is a report for a client and the client has asked for this message to be removed. While there is a separate thread on this topic in this forum, it does not seem to answer the specific question of how to remove the alert if I and the client are otherwise happy with the document. I am aware from the other thread that the answer may lie in running a Preflight, I have run the Preflight and it simply suggests more problems with the document rather than fixing or removing the original error message. Can anybody help simply ensuring this error message does not pop up for an otherwise perfectly printable and readable file. Thanks.
Hi- it's a text and graphics document, and so it includes jpegs of maps exported from GIS. So it sounds like it must be the graphics that are causing the issue. If the problem is that layers exist (the document does not need to have layers, having 'flat' jpegs, like the illustrations in a standard book, would be fine- there is no need for interactivity) is there any way to remove or delete the layers? Is this what 'flattening' means? Sorry, I'm a tech novice!
Hi Test_Screen_Name, thanks so much- you have led me to the solution. Yes, GIS is Geographic Information System, a programme for creating and editing digitised maps, but the images themselves that were exported from GIS were done so as jpegs. However, the jpegs must have not been appropriately flattened, but following your suggestion of View > Show/Hide > Navigation Panes > Layers gave an option to flatten all layers, and that solved the problem in a way that Preflight fixes were unable to do.
