Is the highlight tool now the default redact tool?

Community Beginner ,

I don't use either very much, highlight more than redact though. Anyway, today I was trying to apply some highlights, and every time it came up as black, as in redaction. I tried to find where I could change the black to another color and finally found that by right-clicking on the black rectangle and going to Properties. But that had to be done every time I "highlighted" - and the label for the icon I was using did say Highlight, not Redact. What happened to the option to change colors via the Highlighting tool? Anybody else notice this or am I overlooking something totally obvious? I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro, continuous release version 2004.004.20243

That is not normal behavior, and the redact tool is an entirely different option. Indeed, the redact tool is destructive and takes away whatever is marked for redaction.

For the highlight tool, it should keep the last options selected. Please try changing the properties for the tool before using it. Changing a marked region afterwards does change thee only the properties for that marking.

Thanks, Abambo. I have no idea why my Highlight tool is doing this! I did see that right-click Properties has an option to save whatever change I make to the black redaction rectangle (such as color and opacity), so I've begun using that. I'll continue to investigate the matter. Thank you again!
