Since about a month my, and my colleges Acrobat Pro (64-bit) version keeps crashing/hanging for some reason. The program is up to date. Last week I found a another new update, but it still very unresponsive. 😞
Is there an easy fix or do we need to go back and install and old version?
Thanks.

Just "Disable new Acrobat Reader" under the file menu and let me know if that work.

I refered to the solution of removing the Acrobat registry, it solved. Removing Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC.

Thanks a lot!
I've tried to check on the Creative cloud desktop but it didn't show any updates. I manually download the update. Now the version is 23.008.20555. The update is optional update. I will see if it can slove the issue.

Hi there
The 64-bit application is a unified application for Acrobat and Acrobat Reader. If you have installed Acrobat Reader 64-bit and you purchase an Acrobat subscription, the Acrobat Reader 64-bit application will upgrade to become a fully functional Acrobat 64-bit application.
For more info. please go through the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/about-acrobat-reader-dc-migration-to-64-bit.html

I am having the same issue - daily. I also just got a brand new laptop yesterday (ThinkPad). I was hopeful that maybe it was caused by my old laptop being a little old and slow, but nope - Acrobat Pro (64-bit) is still crashing.

That seems to help so far. Thanks! I hope they come up with a fix for this.

I just realized I never updated my post.. that "fix" only worked temporarily. I am not understanding why we have to continue to find work-arounds and update registries etc. to get a product working that we pay for monthly so we can have the "most up to date" product there is! This has been happening for months and Adobe does not seem concerned at all.

No, it didn't work for me. I've been using Adobe Acrobat on my Apple Mac's for years. This issue is simply unacceptable by Adobe.

Doesn't work. None of the stuff in this thread works. Adobe needs to take this seriously and get a damned fix out. My whole office can't complete tasks now that we rely on Acrobat for.

The menu you show does not even show up on my Adobe Acrobat Pro, which is current installation. Mine is very different - I am on a MAC. I cannot find that option to "DisaBled new Acrobat Reader", at any rate.

For as much as we pay monthly to have to keep dealing with these issues is really unacceptable. It's been going on for weeks and nothing has been done to fix them. I cannot print to pdf and it's still crashing...

Hi there
Have you tried the suggestion provided in the correct answer.
Also, go through the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-pdf-printing-acrobat-reader.html

As I've posted before - this does not work as I can't even open Acrobat so obviously can't access the file menu.
I can't believe this hasn't been fixed and a new version loaded as I've been using Adobe products for nearly 30 years! Always been brilliant till now.

You might consider handing out the "Correct Answer" tag so much. None of this is a correct answer for my location. We have about 120 licenses and we're unable to complete our daily work because of this. I can open files. But I can't edit them. We pay for the capability to edit because we NEED it. Now that our processes rely on Acrobat to complete, we're screwed. This needs to be taken more seriously that labeling fixes that don't work as "correct answer." It is OBVIOUS that TONS of people are having this issue. Could someone at Adobe please fix this instead of relying on users who's Acrobat doesn't work?

I agree, they should reconsider handing out the Correct answer as thes answers to the problems are all work around. My work around is using last years version of the software because the plug ins are broken. Apple has had similar situations but they imediatly pull the update and then work to get out a better update as soon as possible. Adobe is one of those auto updates, you dont expect this kind of issue. They should have offered it as an undate so less people would have been impacted. Then they could have pulled to the update. Now people are spending half the day or more fixing it themselves. I installed last years and turned off updates.

I want to reiterate what I mean by the Plug ins are broken. We have licensed software that uses Kodak Plug ins for trapping and Plate builders and when we attempt to use it now, the screen goes blank. Everything since Jan this year doesnt work now. We have all been going back to last years version and there has been no word if Acrobat has resoved these issues. They keep releasing new updates and not speaking about when this will be resolved.

OK, so I think we need to share what is a better competitor to whom to spend our many dollars for a worthy product. Acrobat is unbeleivably poor at this juncture and it is inexplicable to me. I can't even figure out how to get back to "last years version" and my try at "uninstalling" did nothing helpful. I still have a program that crashes on the hour and I have to FORCE QUIT it.

I was hoping TO get their attention 🙂 I am pretty tech illiterate (good consumer user, not a good techy) and I don't know how to switch versions or anything. Ergo, I'll be adding a competitor and if that works decently, I'll be dropping Acrobat after more years than I can count.

I have the same issue. It happens if I have to combine files, which is something I need to do for law cases I am working on. Opening large files also causes the issue. Anything over 10k pages *always* crashes it or makes it unresponsive, even if they are just b/w text. Disabling new acrobat did not help much.

I was wrong! This only worked for two days. Today, the Acrobat still crash. I don't know what the software wants.

The only thing I've found that works is to completely uninstall the 64-bit version, use Adobe Cleaner to get off as much as you can after the uninstall, manually delete leftover Adobe folders, and install the 32-bit version. That is the only fix that worked for me.
