Lightweight Acrobat

New Here ,

Anyway to turn Adobe into a light-weight pdf reader? Looking for a lightweight, local-only PDF reader without telemetry, background processes, or account sign-in. I just want to open, read, edit, and sign PDFs without 500MB of support architecture. Thanks

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

Adobe Acrobat Reader is a full-featured tool, it isn't designed to be ultra-lightweight out of the box. That said, you can streamline it a bit:

- Turn off background services: Go to Edit > Preferences > General, and disable options like:

       - Show online storage when opening files

        - Show online storage when saving files

Disable auto-launching services: Look for and disable Adobe Acrobat Update Service from your system startup (via Task Manager > Startup tab on Windows).

Hope this will help.
