I’m currently having issues with the link tool. This is 100% reproducible every time.
1. Create an empty PDF (File -> Create -> Blank File).
2. Use the link tool to add a link on the page with the action “Open a file.”
3. Link to any Word file.
4. Save the PDF file to the same folder.
5. Enjoy clicking the link—it opens the Word file. Repeat as much as you like.
6. Quit Acrobat.
7. Open the PDF file with Acrobat.
8. Click the link.
9. FAILS: “Could not open file ‘Filename’.” This error also occurs with every PDF that has links created with the link tool.
10. Restarting the Mac and other attempts haven’t helped.
However, if you delete “com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist” from the user/Library/Preferences, the links work again—until you close Acrobat.
I can’t pinpoint when this behavior started. I have automated updates enabled, so…
System: Mac Studio 2022, M1 Max, 64GB
Acrobat Version: Pro 2024.004.20243
