locking a form -

Community Beginner ,

I have created a form in Adobe Acrobat and want my team to have to "save as" the template.  They can then modify and complete the form, then save as a PDF document to share with their customers.  How do I accomplish this?

The best way to lock a file is to digitally sign it. Make sure to set the

signature field to lock all the fields in it, though.

Appreciate the feedback, I was able to lock the document however then the users of the form are not able to make changes without the password (IE they cant fill in the form).

My hope is to force them to "Save As" and then they would have access to make changes to the document without a password.  My goal is to simply keep the original file unchanged and have them use it as a template form.  Is there a possibility to do this?

You can use system security to protect files. If it's on a server, you may have to get the server administrator to do it, and you should certainly seek their advice.

Hello, I have the same issue.  I build forms and used to be able to restrict editing by entering a password.  I was able to select whether users can print and fill, but restrict editing the form.  Now, with this new adobe pro version I'm unable to save the file with the password.  I receive the following message:

The document could not be saved.  Use of non FIPS cryptography is not permitted while in FIPS mode.

What is this FIPS mode and can I turn it off?
