Merging PDFs with mark-ups

New Here ,
Apr 14, 2021 Apr 14, 2021

Hello,

I have two versions of the same PDF, each with individual contributors' comments and mark-ups on them. I have tried merging the two, but that only seems to work for comments, not for the mark-ups (they disappear from the merged document). Is there a way to ensure that comments AND mark-ups appear in the merged doc?

Thanks in advance for your expert guidance on this! 🙂

Exporting the comments from one file and importing it into another is the correct solution. And yes, it will include all comments and mark-ups.

What do you mean by "mark-ups" and by "comments", exactly? Mark-ups (the way I understand them) are a type of comments...

Thanks for your reply – apologies for not using the right terminology!

Mark-ups (in my language) would be text replacement/insertion, callouts/text boxes, underline, etc. Basically anything that would show up on the page itself as well as in the comments pane. When I've merged the two versions of the document, there are worded comments in the comments pane, but nothing that was previously on the page, such as callouts, is showing now – it's all disappeared.

Hope I'm a bit clearer now!

Update: now that I've had a play around a little more with the documents, I think my question is actually a different one: with the two versions of the same document (the only difference being the comments, callouts, text replacement/insertion etc.), is it possible to create one master document that has one copy of each page (merged from the two separate ones) with all comments/mark-ups pulled from the separate docs into the single master doc?

At the moment, it looks like my only option might be to export all comments from one version into the other, but I'm not sure if this will include the on-page mark-ups.
