Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime when saving as reduced pdf

When trying to save a 20,858KB as a reduced size pdf file I get the error message:

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. Runtime Error! Program: C:... This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information"

Following this Adobe Acrobat X Pro closes.   

At the point at which the error occurs the progress bar has completed the image processing and is showing 'subsetting embedded fonts' (it shows some progress on this before the error message appears).

It seems to happen on this specific file not every file.

My OS is windows 7 64 bit

Abobe Acrobat X Pro version 10.0.0

Is time to upgrade to DC.

 

Both of the operating system and the Adobe Acrobat version that you're using are no longer supported.

 

Some of the issues that you're describing could've been addressed in updates of more recent versions of what you're using.

 

However, upgrade to Windows 10 is still free, specifically for Wi dows7 users who haven't upgraded yet.

 

The latest Windows 10  version 1909, which provides support with newer .Net redistributables.

 

You can try that, and then running Acrobat X in Program Compatibility Mode in Windows 10.

 

But again, upgrading is the best advice you will get in these forums.

 

However, you also mentioned that it only happens with a specific file. 

 

Can you right-click and choose "Document Properties" to find out what was the source program that was used to create this PDF?

 

Since it is complaining about a redistributable, it wouldn't surprised this PDF was created with a MS Office PDF Maker Add-On, or saved as PDF directly from MS Word, for example.

 

See if saving the file as MS Word and opening directly in Acrobat X fix the issue.

Thanks, unfortunately I can't upgrade Windows as I'm somewhere down the list on the corporate upgrade programme.  However I installed DC on my personal laptop and I was able to perform the file size reduction successfully.

Also, please try this step:

Go to Control panel > Programs> Programs and Features. Right click on Microsoft visual c++ 2017 redistributable package (x64) and click change and then click Repair on the window that comes up.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately I'm locked out of that part of the system.  If the problem recurs I will suggest that to my IT support.
