I create Pdf's from autocad drawings then add the text to the pdf. After saving the file I reopen later and the drawings are missing letters. This has been going on for a couple years intermittently, sometimes not happening for months. I can copy the text with missing letters then delete and paste the text now contains all the missing letters. Help.

I think that may be related to the Unicode in use by the operating system and by the Adobe Acrobat application and how it is handled once the copied content is temporarily saved to memory with the "Clipboard" (but I may be totally wrong).
Sometimes what I do is just paste the desired content to Notepad (if on Micrososft Windows, for example) to clear all direct formatting that could conflict with any unicode in use, or, as a precaution to avoid incorrect character mapping translations (if that would be the case).
See if you can work around it by pasting the copied content to notepad, then copy from Notepad and paste into the PDF document.
That is probably why it seems to work on the second try as you've described.

In addition to the good information above, the preflight profile fixup to embed fonts seems to fix the issue, although there are no unembedded fonts in the file properties? (Tools> Print Production> Preflight> Fixups)
