MS Word docx to pdf with Adobe Acrobat plugin

New Here ,
Sep 30, 2021 Sep 30, 2021

Hi,

I am converting the attached .docx file to .pdf using the Adobe Acrobat plugin with MS Word. When converting the word file to a pdf, the text on page 2 after the black triangle disappears (Tähän lääkevalmisteeseen kohdistuu...).

If I use Word's "Microsoft print to pdf" feature, this does not happen.

Has anyone identified a workaround for such a problem? I would prefer to use the Acrobat plugin instead of the "MS print to pdf" feature as this retains author/doc properties/tags in the pdf.

This occurs with the latest version of MS Word 365 and Acrobat Pro DC (Continuous Release)

Many thanks in advance

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that. As described, converting the .docx file to .pdf using the Adobe Acrobat plugin with MS Word. When converting the word file to a pdf, the text on page 2 after the black triangle disappears

I have tried to reproduce the issue and got the same result as yours. However when i printed the Word Document to Adobe PDF from the printer list, the text after the black arrow appeared in the resulting PDF file.

  1. open the Word Doc
  2. Go to File > Print > Select 'Adobe PDF' in the printer list and print

Hope it will help

Regards

Amal

I've been able to reproduce the issue as well.

It only seems to happen if that triangle character is inserted as an inline item as you have done, but if you insert it with any other text wrap setting, it works fine. Weird, I know.

Also weird is it does not happen in the Mac versions of Word/Acrobat.

The other way you can save it that seems to work is to use Word's built in PDF format (ie. Save As > select .pdf in format list). Not sure if that retains all properties you require, but take a look.

On further experimentation, the issue does NOT happen if you deselect "Enable Accessibility....", which of course negates your intention, so let's not do that.

However, if you "Save As >" selecting .PDF format and make sure that "Document structure tags..." under Options, you should get what you need.

None of this explains why the Acrobat PDF Maker is having an issue, but it may be the workflow you need for now.

The issue seems to be because of the Triangle.

I ran the Accessibility Checker in Word and it flagged the triangles as having no Alt-Text, and my guess it's making the whole paragraph disappear. Why, I don't know. I made the triangles "Decorative" and then all was fine in the PDF using Adobe PDF Maker.
