Multiple stage form and signing issue.

New Here ,
Jan 06, 2021 Jan 06, 2021

I have a company form that requires a client signature as well as our signature for the first section. After that there is 2 other section which are to be filed and signed the next day for example.

However, when you sign a document it becomes uneditable. How do make it so only the first page is uneditable? and sections 2 to 3 can be filled in after the first days signature?

Thanks

Hi Paul,

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described, there are multiple signature required on a single document.

Please send the document for signatures using Fill and Sign tool (Powered by Adobe Sign) > Request for signatures and enter the recipients email addresses in the recipient list in the order you want the signatures to be done so that once the first peson will sign the document it will move to the next persopn and so on.

Once signed, both you and your signers receive the signed PDF by email. You can track the entire signing process in Acrobat DC or Acrobat Reader DC from Home > For Signature.

For detailed steps please check the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/using/send-for-signature.html

Regards

Amal

Hi Amal,

Thanks for your email.

I want to be able to sign the first page out on site with the client for example.

We go out to complete an inspection, when we are both happy we both sign the form (ON THE SAME DEVICE) a tablet for example.

The next day i have to go out and do a "Next day" inspection by myself, i have more fields to complete. But because the document was signed yesterday, all my editable fields for the next section of the form are no longer editable!!

I need to be able to go back into the form and complete the remainder of the form. But this can not be completed until after the first section of the form is signed, and one day after the first inspeciton.

Does this make sense?

Hi there

Thanks for explaining the workflow in detail. Once the PDF file is signed and saved it gets locked for further editing and becomes read only.

If you’re the only one signer, you can remove the signature and then work on the document or edit the source document.

To remove your signature, right-click the signature and then choose Clear Signature. However as there is one more signer involved, there isn't much that can be done once the PDF becomes read only.

For more information, please check the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/kb/edit-signed-PDF.html

Regards

Amal

It would be nice to be able to lock sections of the document, and allow edits to the rest.  It's really a mess, and the only solutions we've ever come up with break the link on the digital signature like printing/scanning and applying a new digital signature to the next section.  OR you just doing use actual certified signatures.
