Multiple Windows in Taskbar despite Preference Setting to Open Documents in New Tabs

I see multiple windows in the taskbar despite I set the preferences to open documents in new tabs. Is this normal? I thought if I set the preferences to open documents in new tabs I will see only one window in the taskbar and multiple tabs if I click on the acrobat window?

Mine behaves the same way. Seems like an odd choice, but that's apparently the way it's supposed to work. If I find a work-around, I'll let you know.

This has been addressed before by other users in the forums. Specially back in 2019.

I think it is more of a design behavior that has become an annoyance. But that is just my very own personal opinion.

Is this happening in a MS Windows 10 computer with thumbnail previews disabled?

I am wondering if this isn't more a behavior of Windows, and not Acrobat, actually.
