I am encountering an issue where named destinations created using {PRINT} fields in a Word document are not appearing in the destinations panel of the resulting PDF, even though the document is being converted to PDF using the "Create PDF" button from the Acrobat toolbar in Word.
Environment Details:
- Operating System: Windows 11 Pro
- Word Version: Latest version as of December 2024
- Adobe Acrobat Version: 2024.005.20320 (64-bit, Continuous Release)
Steps Taken:
- Created a {PRINT} field in Word:
- Used the syntax: PRINT "[ /Dest /TestSection /DEST pdfmark]" within field braces {} inserted via Ctrl + Fn + 9.
- Verified settings in Adobe Acrobat’s toolbar preferences:
- Ensured "Convert document information" and "Enable accessibility and reflow with tagged Adobe PDF" were enabled.
- Enabled bookmarks creation from Word headings.
- Used the "Create PDF" button in Word to convert the document.
- Opened the resulting PDF in Adobe Acrobat and checked the Destinations panel:
- The panel is empty, and no destinations are listed.
Tests Performed:
- Simplified the Word document to include only a single {PRINT} field and one heading styled with "Heading 1."
- Verified that bookmarks were created successfully, but the named destination associated with the {PRINT} field did not appear.
- Checked tagging and document properties in Acrobat; no issues were reported.
Request:
I would like clarification on whether named destinations created using {PRINT} fields are fully supported in the latest versions of Adobe Acrobat and Word. If they are, I would appreciate any troubleshooting guidance or confirmation of any known limitations.
Thank you for your assistance. Please let me know if additional information or files are required.
