I have a bank of serials from old PCs and I'd like to re-use these licences on new machines. I no longer have access to the old PCs / installations and need to reset the serials.

When I try to use them currently, it says activation limit reached.

Any help would be appreciated.

The only way is to contact Adobe directly and ask for an activation count reset. You can't do it yourself without access to the old machines.

Chat support: https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen
(make sure pop-ups are not blocked; type "Agent" to chat with a real person)
Phone support: https://helpx.adobe.com/contact/phone.html
There's no email support.

Beware of people contacting you via the forums' messaging system pretending to work for Adobe! Only those with an "Adobe Employee" tag under their name are legit. Also, Adobe will never offer to contact you via Skype, or use an email account that's not under the adobe.com domain...

Also, Acrobat X support is finished long ago, and so you will often find Adobe's support will not help. Try a few times, you might be lucky. Tip: ask for "Activation Count Reset". They may also refuse to do multiples, because they might be covered by business licenses rather than individual licenses.

I am in the same boat. And so far, Adobe has been attempting to strong arm me into buying a subscription and abandoning my perpeutal license. I have a case open with them right now.

How can a license system know that I have reached an activation limit, but not show the details of it on my account (where the licesne is registered), and "support" cannot also clear it. They created a simple "gotcha", hoping to catch as many peopl eas possible in a catch 22. Say my laptop gets run over by a bus? Oops. Gotta purchase a subscription now.

Obviously they are upset because they want people to subscribe so they have a neverending stream of money. But if they are going to make it impossible for people to properly use the perpetual liceense they paid for, then they invite software piracy.

All I can offer as help, is be persistent. In the end I got thorugh to someone on the phone (after many, many attempts!) who cleared some of them for me.

It's put me off using Adobe products and I avoid them whereever I can...

They are supposed to return my call sometime today after I asked them to escalate the case since they pressured me 4 times to upgrade to a subscription.

In the meantime, I have restorted to using an older installer that I was able to download when I first purchased the software. During the install, you will need to disconnect from the internet and then go into your firewall settings and block all of the adobe apps access in order to prevent them from bricking the software you paid for.

If we had a real justice system, this type of blatant anti-consumer shakedowns would be met with swift punishment.

That sounds like a pirated version of the installer. Proceed at your own risk.

No, it's the original installer directly from Adobe but thanks for the heads up.
