New Acrobat standard installation

Explorer ,
Dec 12, 2024 Dec 12, 2024

Today I installed Acrobat Standard ver 2024.005.20320 to my system Running Windows 10.  Using an Epson ET-4850 printer. I edited my first document and tried to print it. The print dialogue box displays, but when I click on print nothing happens. The printer works with all other applications including another .pdf editor. The printer icon never shows up in the notification area of the task bar. When I access the printer there is nothing scheduled for printing.

Note: The first time I clicked on the print button in the upper right corner of Acrobat, a dialogue box appeared saying something like before printing a printer has to be installed. It disapeared almost immediately. I have searched support and the user guide but I cannot find out how to install or attach the printer to the program.

Thank you,

Bob

I edited the registry as the print logging instructed. When I initiated a print Adobe asked me to sign in. After signing in, the document printed. However, the print log was not generated. I must have done something wrong when modifying the registry. When I went back to my standard Windows account and opened Acrobat,  I signed into my Adobe account before attempting to print. After that the document printed. I have use  of other Adobe apps like Photoshop etc.., and do not sign in everey time I use them because when I close with them I do not sign out of my account.

As I said in my original post, this is a new installation which must require a sign in before printing.

Thank you all for your assistance,

Bob

Hi @Magic58Bob,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble.

To test, would you mind trying to print the file to Adobe PDF using the Adobe PDF Printer in the options? This will help us understand if the issue is with Acrobat or the printer.

If it works, please check the printer drivers for any possible updates. Drivers can be found here: Epson ET-4850 | Support | Epson US

If the driver updates does not work, please help us gather the logs from your machine: https://adobe.ly/3D8BfOz. Please make sure Procmon is selected. You can upload logs using this tool and share your Unique log ID with us.

Also, printer logs for further investigation. Steps to get those can be found here: How to collect Print logs for Acrobat/Reader?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks @Magic58Bob,

Would you mind sharing the print logs as requested in my previous response?
This should help us investigate the issue further.

@Magic58Bob The print logs normally capture error instances when printing a file.

So, in case you were able to print the file successfully, it could be due to a background update of the driver, which led to this.

Please feel free to write back in case you experience the same issue.
