New update? Setting PDF password asks to save

Hello, my adobe acrobat pro has recently updated over the past few weeks (not too sure when), but my usual process is that I copy PDFs from the desktop and drag them into a composing email. I then open the PDF and set a password, but as soon as I set the password it is asking to save the file. My colleague is also having the same issue, but is this relating to a recent Acrobat update? Previously it would set the password without needing to save.

My version is 2024.002.20895 and I can see the latest update was June 28th to 24.002.2089x.

Hi there,

I hope you're doing well, and thank you for reaching out.

I've tried to reproduce the issue on my end, but everything is working fine. Could you please let me know if this problem occurs with a specific PDF file or with all PDFs?

Here are a few steps you can try:

Try a Different PDF: Please test with another PDF file to see if the issue persists. If the file is stored on a shared network or drive, download it to your computer and try again.

Check Your OS and Acrobat Version:
What is the version of the operating system you are using?
Ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat Pro installed (version 24.02.20933). You can check for updates by going to Help > Check for updates and then rebooting your computer.

Repair Installation: If you're using Windows, try repairing the installation from the help menu and see if that resolves the issue.

Reset Acrobat Preferences: Resetting Acrobat preferences to default might help. Follow the instructions here and see if that works.

Please try these steps and let me know if the issue persists.
