No longer able to combine multiple file formats to single PDF

Hello -

I recently migrated my Adobe Acrobat Pro XI to a new computer running Win10.

I used to be able to simply highlight and combine multiple file formats (word perfect, MS word, JPG and PDF) all into a single PDF.

On the new computer I get the "Acrobat does not support the conversion of one or more of your files to PDF.  Please remove these files or go to Settings and choose the PDF portfolio option."

I don't want to use portfolio - and never had to before.

If I click on each of the documents individually, Acrobat can convert them.  But I have 150 files (regularly) that need to be combined and that would take forever to do one at a time.

I appreciate the help.

Make sure the option to combine the files as a Portfolio wasn't accidentally selected in the Options dialog the Combine Files command.

The only way to combine the files without an error is to select the 'Save As PDF Portfolio' in the Options dialog.  But then it doesn't save it as a Binder and it looks like the snip from earlier in the thread (see link below) which is weird.  Keep in mind, this never happened until just recently.  Don't know what changed all of a sudden.  Never used to have problems like this.

This usually happens when one (or more) of the files you're trying to merge is digitally signed, secured or was created using LiveCycle Designer. In that case the only option is to combine them as a Portfolio.

Correct but then literally two weeks ago and for the last 5 years, I have been able to combine them as a binder.  Did Adobe push out an update that changed all that?  Like I can't emphasize how night and day, all of a sudden this is when I literally have been combining these signed documents made in LiveCycle for ages and then sometime in the last week, something changed all of a sudden

Then why wasn't there any issue two weeks ago?

Did you use exactly the same files then?

Yes sir.  All of a sudden starts asking me for the permissions password which it never used to do.
