Not possible to edit image using Photoshop

Contributor ,
Nov 27, 2025 Nov 27, 2025

I'm used to edit images embeded in PDF with Photoshop (PDF-Edit-Edit Using...).

But now somehow it doesnt work. I can open image in Photoshop. It opens as temporary image, I edit image, close and save image, but then edited image is not reloaded bach to PDF.

Also Acrobat says editor is not specified, but it is not definitely true. It is specified in Preferencies and image is opening in PS.

All Adobe apps have latest versions and updates.

I just tried your workflow, and had the same experience. I'm in on Acrobat beta testing, so I've logged this issue as a bug report.

You may want to do the same using Adobe UserVoice, which you can learn about through this link. Click on the hyperlink for Acrobat, and you can log your bug issue with the Acrobat product team.

So alas, I cannot offer you a solution for the problem. But I can offer a way to log your issue with Adobe, and hopefully get it resolved at some future point.

Hope this helps, to some degree.

Thank you.

I have made some observation and tried some solution for similar problem of another post on this forum.
Edit> Preferences> Security (Enhanced). Then remove the check from Enable Protected Mode at Startup.
And it looks like it did solve problem. But I'm really not sure why, I have never messed up with this setting, so I don't know why it suddenly matters. Probably some changes in updates?
Also I wonder if it is safe.

I don't know what to say about changing the security settings. That would be a global change to Acrobat DC Pro.

You could toggle that on and off by the instance, but that leads to eventually just leaving it off as you get tired of switching the toggle every time you want to edit a graphic. And I don't believe that would be the best idea at all.

I ran into the same problem editing images in PDFs with Photoshop. Even though the image opens in PS and you save it, Acrobat sometimes doesn’t reload it if the editor integration glitches. For me, restarting both apps or re specifying Photoshop in Acrobat’s preferences usually fixes it. Try that it worked when I faced this exact issue.
