Hi Adobe team,
Some Japanese users reported that Noto sans JP font can't be recognized when converting PPT to PDF file. It shows Garbled characters. Adobeb Acrobat version: 2025.001.20474, 64-bit.
We added Noto sans JP font to family in Creative cloud app. Also removed > re-added. Signed out of Creative cloud app then signed in, this font was installed eventually. Reinstalled Adobe Acrobat. Installed Office365 language pack. Still not worked.
Could you please look into this issue? Many thanks.

Thank you for reaching out and reporting this.
It is clearly a font-related issue. Did you try embedding the font once, as it is already available on the machine? Please refer to the information in the following help document: https://adobe.ly/3HW8tTo.
Please share a sample PPT file with the Noto Sans JP font? We will try to replicate the behavior and share the information.
Feel free to let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

Hi,
Can you include a screenshot of the window you get after File > Properties > Fonts?
Also, can you test opening the pdf in Chrome, to check if the rendering of the characters is done differently?

After updating Windows, the OS now supports Noto Sans JP. However, this is causing problems that I cannot solve. I don't know if PowerPoint doesn't support variable fonts, or if PowerPoint's built-in PDF conversion doesn't support them. All text weights for Noto Sans JP are Thin. I don't know whether Microsoft or Adobe is at fault.
