i've set up number fields to let us place dollar values in a form. however, when i enter a value and move to the next field, the number i just entered is replaced by the default value of 0.00.
what do i need to do to have the entered value remain?
Did you apply a calculation to those fields?
there is a calculation in one of the fields, but i hadn't tried to enter anything in it. there are 4 prior fields that it would use to calculate, it was in the first two that i tried to enter values.
The calculation will override any value you enter into the field.
It's more user-friendly to set all calculated fields as read-only since the calculation override any entered value.
the overwrite was in the fileds to be used to calculate, not the calculating field.
i would enter a value in the to be used fields and the value would disappear (go back to default value) as soon as i left the fields to enter a value in another field.
Can you share the file with us?
In all those fields under calculate tab tick 'Value is not calculated'.
i had not looked a the calculatoin tab for these fields since i wasn't using them to calculate. i didn't realize that i needed to mark them don't calculate.
appreciate you educating me!
It should be that way by default, perhaps you tick "Value is the..." if you wanted to calculate something and forgot about it.
Does you use any script at this field?
no, i don't write scripts, and would be afraid to start. 🙂
i used the field properties to set the first 4 fields as numbers and then set the last field to calculate using the values in those fields.
