i've set up number fields to let us place dollar values in a form. however, when i enter a value and move to the next field, the number i just entered is replaced by the default value of 0.00.

what do i need to do to have the entered value remain?

there is a calculation in one of the fields, but i hadn't tried to enter anything in it. there are 4 prior fields that it would use to calculate, it was in the first two that i tried to enter values.

It's more user-friendly to set all calculated fields as read-only since the calculation override any entered value.

the overwrite was in the fileds to be used to calculate, not the calculating field.
i would enter a value in the to be used fields and the value would disappear (go back to default value) as soon as i left the fields to enter a value in another field.

redacted some elements from the page as don't have permission to share work materials. the fields in question still perform the same...

i enter a value in the field for 'policy cash value' and then when i tab out, the value returns to $ 0.00.

same is true for all fields

It should be that way by default, perhaps you tick "Value is the..." if you wanted to calculate something and forgot  about it.

no, i don't write scripts, and would be afraid to start. 🙂

i used the field properties to set the first 4 fields as numbers and then set the last field to calculate using the values in those fields.
