NVDA PDF Accessibility: Advancing and Form Field Issues

Having a novel issue in Acrobat when using NVDA to check accessibility. All accessibility checks and reading order issues have been resolved in Acrobat and using the PAC 2021 PDF accessibility checker. Documents have been read correctly previously, but now are experiencing issues.

We are developing handouts that are a mix of text, form fields and radio buttons. There are two issues:

  1.  Once we have entered an interactive element/form field to enter text, the down arrow no longer reads the next item in the reading order but remains stuck in the box. Additionally, the tab button takes the user to the next form field rather than the next item in the reading order.
  2.  Randomly, on several pages, the down arrow at the bottom of a page does not take you to the next page but jumps back to a previous page or repeats the last item it read.

Have triple checked settings, tagging and reached out to NVDA but no answers yet. Has anyone else experienced these issues/found solutions?

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 24.01.20615 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://adobe.ly/4axRkIN

Also please check the correct answer marked in the similar discussion https://adobe.ly/3xcNUNt and see if that works.
