Employer just switched to Adobe Pro. How do I set OCR to process California legal documents to screen out the CA marginal numbers? Could do this with OmniPage and Kofax. No one, not even the trainers, knows how to do this in Adobe. Thanks!

Hi Lorraine, That's probably becuase it can't be done. I've used Omnipage many years ago and as I recall, you can block out regions that you want OCRed. That cannot be done with Acrobat — it's an all or nothing kind of deal. In fact, if you have a page that has partial OCR (or searchable) text on it. Acrobat will ignore the rest.
Tell your boss the issue and let him decide where to go for what you want/need. Otherwise, the only other option I can think of is to mark out a text redaction for those numbers after the fact — and I know that's not what you want.
Sorry, wish I coud help you more.

Thanks, Gary. Yes, that's exactly how OmniPage still works. Kofax lets you choose a "legal" format which does something like OmniPage, though not as precisely. Unfortunately, I work for a very large international law firm. I'm certain that a committee made the decision to "upgrade" to Adobe Pro, and of course no one thought of the kind of processes used by a word processor every day. There's no one to whom I can appeal. Our training team can't even give me an answer, because apparently they weren't trained themselves in these operation. I appreciate your prompt response. Lorraine
