Open a new file and Adobe reopens closed files

I'm using the desktop app.  All files are closed.  I double click on a file to view it.  Adobe Acrobat Pro will relaunch the last file that I had opened.

It reopens the last file, along with the new file.  So I end up with two open tabs / documents.

It reopens the last file, even though the last file was successfully saved and closed.

How to I get rid of this?

Super annoying and time consuming.

Thanks,

Melanie

Hi @Melanie21976273xyum

Have you started experiencing this issue recently? A small video recording of the steps you are doing and the issue occurring would be very helpful.

What is the version of the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 24.02.20687 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here

It happened with the latest version.  I thought it was a problem with that version, so I went back to 2024.002.20687.   There has been an updated version since then - it was terrible.

I definitely do not understand the link that you sent. . . I am tech savvy enough to export files to PDF, redact, create Bates labels, remove metadata, etc.  But resetting preferences like that will take a couple of espressos.   Surely there's a better way.

Hi there

We are sorry to hear that the issue still persists, Would you mind collecting the Adobe CC logs https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-log-collector.html , Procmon logs (Win Only) https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/acromonitor.html and share them via any cloud storage. Just upload the log file to the cloud and generate the link and share that link with us for further investigation.

Regards
Amal
