Opening in edit mode programmatically

Guest

Hello,

I'm looking for someway to always open a PDF in edit mode. Currently I'm using the following to open the PDF:

SetAcroExchApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")

SetAcroExchAVDoc =CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc")

AcroExchAvDoc.Open strFile,""

SetAcroExchPDDoc = AcroExchAVDoc.GetPDDoc

Setjso = AcroExchPDDoc.GetJSObject

AcroExchApp.Show

If there isn't a way to always open in edit mode then is there something I'm missing to place in edit mode once open? Please let me know if you need anymore information.

Bump:

I would also like to know this answer. I have not been able to find a way to make this work in windows 10. Windows 7 I never had any issues.

What do you mean by Edit mode? There's the "Edit PDF" tools, and the "Prepare Form" tools. Both of these are Acrobat UI toolsets, and niether is available through the SDK.

There is however, something you can do. I don't know if it will work for what you want, but all of these tools have menu items. All you need to do it figure out the language independent menu item name, then execute it after opening the PDF. Finding the name is more difficult than you might think because most of the Acrobat menus are hidden. You can download a tool here that unhides the menu items, but it's not free.

There is also a tool there that displays the language independent names.

There's also a list of all the known menu items in the articles listed here:
