At some point this summer PDF reader was changed so that a bunch of info that was in the bottom, is now on the right side. One of those things is the page number.
If you have a large document ( i dont know how large it starts to happen, but this user has a many thousands page document), the number is truncated. So instead of 1233 it displays 23/1300 or something like that.
If you put the mouse cursor on the current page number and select the field, you can copy and paste that out of the application and see the real page number. Obviously this is really confusing to users, who try and print page 33, becuase that is waht reader truncates the page number to, and then they get the wrong page and has no idea what they did wrong.
Is the page display configurable at all? Can i move it back to the bottom? Can i change the width of the sidebar? Basically how do i work around this challenge? Did adobe really not usability test something as key as the PAGE number displaying??? before they changed to this new UI?
Hi @m1wasnottested ,
Hope you are doing well.
We acknowledge that the new Acrobat represents a notable change; however, we hope that as you get familiar with the new interface, you can be more productive and get more out of Acrobat.
We are actively working on all the currently unavailable features, such as customizing the width of the sidebar, page display configuration, and user interface. And we will address them with the highest priority.
As you get more comfortable with the new interface,

I dont really care one way or another, but how do i get the page number not to truncate?
It seems like 4 numbers is fine (thousands) but when you move up to 10,000+ pages it seems to truncate it.

In Acrobat related forums the most popular answer right now is to go back to the old interface:
