Page Numbers - Issues with not showing up on every page and/or wanting to alter headers already ther

Hi community!

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.

I need to have page numbers show up on legal documents.  These are files that I have used Adobe to combine into one PDF.  Therefore they all have different page numbers, headers, etc on them.  Some of them were Word but mainly PDF.

I have tried to add page numbers as a heading and also tried to add Bates numbering however the two issues I'm having:

1. The numbers don't show up on every page.

2. It wants to remove current header which as it's documents to be filed with the court, I don't want to modify anything. I just simply want to add page numbers in adobe rather than by hand after 🙂

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Cassidy

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described the page numbers are not showing on every page of the PDF

- Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.

- What is the version of the Adobe Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version of the application, go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the latest version 21.01.20142 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates.

- What is the workflow/steps you are doing to add header/bates numbering to the PDF file?

For more information about adding the header, footer and bates numbering to PDFs please check out the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/add-headers-footers-pdfs.html

Amal

Hi Amal,

Thank you for the response!

1. I have tried with different PDF documents without success.

2. I double checked and it is the most up to date version of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.

3. Here is the steps I take for the numbering:

Edit PDF > Header & Footer > Add > enter how I want the page number to appear & click OK (I double check all page numbers have been selected in range)

Here is the steps I take for Bates numbering:

Scan & OCR > Bates Numbering > Add > select document and click OK > Click Add New > enter format and click OK (I double check all page numbers have been selected in range) > Click OK

Any ideas on what I can try next? The court now requires documents to be page numbered as it's all electronically. I don't want to have to write them out by hand if I can avoid it 😞

Thank you for all your help!!

Cassidy
