Hey guys,
first time poster but was just wondering if you could help me out. I recieved an important email and I was wondering was their any way of discovering when the PDF file attached was created. I don't mean in regards of when it was saved to my computer but instead when the file was originally created on a different computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys ![]()

Have you looked at the "Proprieties" of the open PDF?
Save the PDF, open the PDF, from the menu bar select "File => Properties" and look at the "Description" tab.

When I saved the email attachment to my pc the date in properties is set to the date and time I saved it to my pc rather than the date the pdf was created. When I open the pdf from my email account without saving it on my pc and go into properties it has the date they saved it to their pc prior to sending it to me.
What I am looking for is the original date the document was created as in the first time it was saved. Can this be done and if so how? If anyone knows this information they would be a life saver ![]()

You have to open the PDF!
Once you have the PDF opened, then you can use Acrobat's menu bar to select "File", then "Properties", then select the 'Description" tab. In the 'Description" section after the "File:", "Description:", "Author:", "Keywords:" you will find a listing for "Created:" and "Modified:". The date in the 'Created' field is the date and time the PDF was created in your local time zone. This is independent of any other way of looking at the file's properties. This value also changes to the local time zone of any viewer because the raw data is the date and time from the creation location restated to then current UTC or GMT date and time.
If you are looking at the PDF from within a web browswer there will be no Acrobat/Reader application menu bar, so you will use the key combination '<Crtl> + D' to bing up the "Properties' pop-up window. This key combination will also work within Acrobat/Reader.
